An Evening With WWE’s Sheamus & Grim Reaper’s Steve Grimmett…

This was a jam-packed edition of The Five Count. This installment of “Scare-A-Thon 2010” was filled to the brim with celebrity action as we had not one, but two megastars on the show. First up was Steve Grimmett, lead singer for the metal band Grim Reaper. Grim Reaper is best known for their legendary albums See You In Hell, Fear No Evil, and Rock You To Hell. They are also the only band to have all of their music videos featured on Beavis & Butt-Head. During the show he talked about being part of the New Wave of British Heavy Metal, punching Def Leppard in the face, and having Grim Reaper’s music videos torn to shreds by Beavis & Butt-Head. It rocked!

After that we were joined by WWE Superstar Sheamus. “The Celtic Warrior” is a multi-time WWE Champion, the 2010 King of the Ring, the 2012 Royal Rumble winner, and has feuded with numerous WWE Superstars including Randy Orton, Triple H, and John Cena. “The Celtic Warrior” discussed how he started in the wrestling business, his hatred for The Miz, and his upcoming appearance at WWE’s Bragging Rights PPV in Minneapolis. It was an amazing show, Fella!

Halloween Rush Hour…

“Scare-A-Thon 2010” rolled on with this edition of The Five Count. During the show we continued to rally for pledge drive dollars, spoke with an enraged caller about the lack of Rush in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, and continued to fight the good fight against the plethora of hilarious technical issues at KMSU. Unfortunately, it seems to be a never-ending battle.

An Evening With The Ghostbusters’ Ernie Hudson…

This edition of The Five Count (the second installment of “Scare-A-Thon 2010”) featured a special interview with the one and only Ernie Hudson. Ernie is best known as “Winston Zeddemore” in the Ghostbusters films. He has appeared in countless films and TV shows including The Crow, Airheads, Congo, The Hand That Rocks The Cradle, and HBO’s Oz. During the show he discussed what it was like being one of the Ghostbusters, hanging out with Mr. T and Dolemite, and the filming of the long-awaited Ghostbusters III film. He also told us about the Twinkie!

The Five Count’s Scare-A-Thon 2010…

This edition of The Five Count was the first installment of our “Scare-A-Thon 2010” shows for the month of October. During the show we tried to decide the best way to create an action figure for general manager Jim “Gully” Gullickson, took a call from a disgruntled lumberjack from Gustavus College, and then Ton took the listeners to Cuddle Town. It was hella scary! The show has even scarier sound quality thanks to faulty equipment at the KMSU studios!

A Party With The Flaming Lips…

During this edition of The Five Count we discussed the possibility of having our doors blown off by polka bands, fielded a call from a jealous general manager, and gave away tickets to the upcoming Flaming Lips show in Minneapolis. Congrats to all the winners!

Labor Day With E.T. & Michael Jackson…

We were rippin’ and a tearin’ through this special two-hour edition of The Five Count. The first hour was made up of the typical hilarious fare, including a recount of Ton’s days as The Rocketeer and a heated discussion about who would be eaten first in the event of a zombie apocalypse. The bonus hour featured a special broadcast of the E.T. The Extra Terrestrial storybook, narrated by the one and only Michael Jackson. Southern Minnesota (and Ton especially) were brought to tears by this emotional tale. What better way to spend a Labor Day weekend?

Ton’s Birthday Blowout…

This was the special “Ton’s Birthday Blowout” edition of the show. During the show we jammed out to Ton’s favorite songs, chatted about the metric system with a woman who called from China, and received a call from Ton’s arch-nemesis, Killoton, who unsuccessfully tried to thwart Ton’s birthday boogieing. For his birthday, Dustin gave Ton a brand new Motley Crue pencil pouch!

Your Mom Listens To The Five Count…

This installment of The Five Count was Ton’s special birthday tribute to his mother. During the show Ton played all his mother’s favorite songs, shared stories about growing up and hanging out in beauty parlors, we discussed the pros and cons of Teddy Ruxpin, and Dustin tried hard to find a way to marry into Ton’s family. Love is in the air!

The Five Count Battles The Ruskies…

This was our special “Tribute to America” show featuring the music of America’s greatest export, Rocky IV. During the show we quoted our favorite lines from the film, Ton broke out into his own training montage, and we explained why we think the True Punks should be considered amongst the “Founding Fathers” of our country. Yo, Southern Minnesota! We did it!

Father’s Day With Burl Ives…

This was a special Father’s Day edition of The Five Count. In honor of fathers everywhere, we played the music of everyone’s favorite fatherly troubadour, Burl Ives. During the show we discussed Burl’s comeback into the mainstream, Ton talked about punching bears in the face, and Dustin shared stories about growing up with his father, Wayne Newton. Another great Father’s Day in the books. Grab your pops!
